Abstract

The issue of using omega-3 PFA drugs for parapharmaceuticals (PF) treatment preventing the disease and nutrition correction is particularly relevant today.

Aim. To analyze the range of medicines and parapharmaceuticals (PF) in Ukraine based on polyunsaturated fatty acids (PFA) – omega-3, which are not synthesized in the human body and must come from food, and their lack leads to oncological cardiovascular diseases, liver diseases, etc. In the course of the research, the drugs range was analyzed taking into account the release form (27 trade names) and PF (52 trade names) containing omega-3 PFA, using systems analysis methods: content analysis, analytical, comparison, etc. Drugs and PF presented on the pharmaceutical market in 2018, the State Register of Medicinal Products of Ukraine, etc. The majority of drugs according to the ATC-classification belong to the subgroup B05BA02 – fat emulsions (40.7 %).

Results. Medicinal products are sold exclusively through pharmacies, and the vast majority of analyzed PFs are sold in the internet( online pharmacies) (83.01 %) (Proteininlviv, Med-magazin.ua, agro-shop.com, etc.). There are no unified recommendations in the world for the quantitative use of omega-3 for both prevention and treatment. For prevention, they range from 250 mg (European Food Safety Association) to2 g per day (Scandinavian countries). Whereas for the treatment recommended dosage of 1 to10 g per day. The therapeutic dose of omega-3 PFA for people after18 inEurope is 1000-3000 mg per day. The dosage for children is twice the recommended dose for adults, which is associated with the intensive development of the child’s body. Only 7.54 % of PF is sold through pharmacies. According to the Laws of Ukraine "On Advertising" and "On Licensing Certain Types of Economic Activities", the sale of the pension fund through the Internet stores, in contrast to drugs, is not prohibited in the country. A comparative analysis of drugs and PF in producing countries allowed us to establish a trend of import dependence, namely: drugs fromGermany take the leading position (33.3 %), and in the study of PF – from the United States of America (USA) (42.3 %).

Conclusions. While analyzing the structure of drugs, 5 dosage forms (DF) produced has been established, emulsions of 59.3 % and 22.2 % of capsules are an advantage. According to doctor’s prescription, 48 % of drugs with omega-3 PFA (emulsions for infusions) are released. Analyzed PF are produced only in 3 DF: solid (capsules) – 94.2 %, liquid (drops) – 3.8 % and mixtures of chopped or chopped vegetable raw materials – 1.9 %. The latest DF (Seeds of Chia, Omega-3 and Fiber,340 grams. Spectrum Essentials,USA) is not in demand among consumers because of its taste. The main share of DF is made in the form of gelatin capsules (to mask the unpleasant smell of fish oil). Among them, the overwhelming majority – 42.8 % produced by manufacturers in 60 capsules (22.4 %) and 30 capsules (20.4 %).
