Quantitative determination of Ibuprofen by chemiluminescent method

Abstract

Aim. The development of quantitative determination of Ibu using a new analytical system H2L (luminol) – H2O2 – Hb (hemoglobin), where Ibu is chemiluminescence inhibitor.

Materials and Methods. The objects of research were: the  substance of Ibuprofen and drugs containing Ibuprofen: the tablets of “Ibuprofen” produced by PC “Technolog” (Uman, Ukraine) and the tablets “Nurofen” was covered the shell produced by Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare International Limited, Thane Road, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom. The intensity of chemiluminescence was measured on the device with “Chemiluminometer – CL 01” photoelectric multiplier FEU-84-A, using measurement of low currents IMT-0.5 and quick-acting automatic potentiometer.

Results. The method of Ibuprofen was studied and showed the quantitative determination in tablets based on reaction of inhibition of chemilumeniscence system H2LH2O2 Hb. RSD ± 1.56 % (δ = –0.75 %) and ±1.68 % (δ = –0.35 %) for the tablets of “Ibuprofen” and the tablets of “Nurofen” tablets respectively, LOQ is 3·10–5 mol·L–1.

Conclusions. The proposed method is promising for further research for their application, for the determination of small amounts of Ibuprofen in the wash water, when washing control equipment held on pharmaceutical companies.
